On October 30, 2001 Securaplane Technologies received a Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) for its XL245-A emergency battery system for installation on Falcon 2000 series aircraft.
Securaplane's XL245-A emergency battery system features field proven sealed lead acid batteries, battery level test, and a built-in precision charging system. There is no need to deep cycle or to remove the battery from the aircraft for a capacity check which reduces battery maintenance. These features combined with low cost battery replacement translate to lower maintenance expenditures.
The XL245-A is a sealed lead acid based direct replacement for SAFT 135687 and 131835. It is currently PMA'd on Falcon 50 and Falcon 900EX aircraft as well.
A similar sealed lead acid battery, the XL246-S, is now standard on all G-IVSP aircraft (over 2000 in the field), and has enhanced reliability tenfold over the AMPS 2000A Ni-Cad batteries they replaced.
