On August 18, 2000, Securaplane delivered its first shipment of XL243A emergency battery systems to Airshow Inc., designed specifically to meet the requirements of their new AirshowMail™ Cabin File Server.
The XL243A is an uninterruptable power supply designed to meet Airshow's specific requirements for size, weight, functionality and DO160D environments. In addition to supplying backup power to the Cabin File Server, it also supplies power to external Ethernet Switches/Hubs, USB Hubs and Printers/Scanners. Therefore the whole airborne LAN is protected from any type of power irregularities that are found in aircraft.
The XL243A features field proven sealed lead-acid batteries, on-board battery level test capability, and a built-in precision charging system. There is no need to deep cycle or remove battery from aircraft for capacity check. The XL243A also provides "Power Failure" and "Low Battery" information to the Cabin File Server through their RS-232 compatible signals and "UPS Shutdown" is transmitted to the XL243A at the end of Windows NT shutdown.
Securaplane has a long history of providing reliable sealed lead-acid batteries to the Aviation market. Similar batteries such as the XL246-S, is now standard on all G-IVSP aircraft (over 2000 in the field), and has enhanced reliability tenfold over the AMPS 2000A Ni-Cad batteries they replaced.
