Securaplane successfully completed flight testing of its wireless
smoke detection system on a 727-200 upper deck freighter conversion

On January 17, 2000, Securaplane completed flight testing of its Securaplane's Wireless Smoke Detection System on B727-200 upper deck freighter conversion.

The Securaplane wireless smoke detection system reduces installation time considerably from wired systems. It can be installed on the aircraft during an overnight, significantly reducing major aircraft downtime compared to hardwired systems. Other advantages include comparative low cost and fast replacement of sensor heads or batteries (less than 10 minutes).

Securaplanes wireless fire detection system eliminates single point failures associated with wired systems and, if desired allows monitoring when the aircraft is unmanned, down to the individual sensor head. This system also allows wireless maintenance diagnostics external to the aircraft. The Securaplane system will also provide maintenance with specific component status in plain English on an alphanumeric readout.

Wireless smoke detection contracts include Southwest Airlines, UPS, Airborne Express, DHL, Emery Worldwide (J.F.A.T. Joint Freighter Airline Team), Sun Country Airlines, and others.

Securaplane is a designer and manufacturer of emergency power systems, main aircraft battery chargers, airborne video equipment, electronic aircraft security systems, 1500 VA inverters, in addition to wireless aircraft smoke detection/reporting equipment. Securaplane is based in Tucson, Arizona.
