For Immediate Release Securaplane has been awarded a contract by Southwest Airlines for "wireless" Spread Spectrum Fire Detection and Suppression Systems for its fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft. On January 27, 1998, Securaplane was awarded a contract by Southwest Airlines for cargo bay fire detection and suppression systems for its Boeing 737 fleet of aircraft. Securaplane's fire detection system eliminates single point failures associated with wired systems and, if desired allows monitoring when the aircraft is unmanned, down to the individual sensor head. This system also allows wireless maintenance diagnostics external to the aircraft. The Securaplane system will also provide maintenance with specific component status in plain English on an alphanumeric readout. The system will save approximately 65 pounds as compared to a hardwired system. The Securaplane wireless smoke detection and suppression system can be installed on the aircraft during an overnight (approximately 70 man hours), significantly reducing major aircraft downtime compared to hardwired systems. Other advantages include comparative low cost and fast replacement of sensor heads or batteries (less than 10 minutes). Pacific Scientific will provide the Halon bottles and Hollingsead will provide the System Integration. Securaplane will deliver 15-30 systems per month, once STC is obtained in compliance with FAA NPRM, Docket No 28937, Notice No. 97-10 and Airworthiness Directive final rule. Securaplane is a designer and manufacturer of emergency power systems, main aircraft battery chargers, electronic aircraft security systems in addition to wireless aircraft smoke detection/reporting equipment. Securaplane is based in Tucson, Arizona. For more information contact Securaplane at: 10800 N.
