Securaplane received a Letter of Intent
from Southwest Airlines for a new technology "wireless" 
Spread Spectrum Fire Detection and Suppression System 
for their Boeing 737-200/300/500/700 aircraft.


On August 26, 1997,  Securaplane signed an LOI with Southwest Airlines 
for cargo bay fire detection and suppression systems for their Boeing 
737 fleet of aircraft.

Securaplane's fire detection system eliminates single point failures 
associated with wired systems and, if desired allows monitoring when the 
aircraft is unmanned, down to the individual sensor head.  This system 
also allows wireless maintenance diagnostics external to the aircraft.  
The Securaplane system will also provide maintenance with specific 
component status in plain English on an alphanumeric readout.  The 
system will save approximately 65 pounds as compared to a hardwired 
system.

The Securaplane wireless smoke detection and suppression system can be 
installed on the aircraft during an overnight (approximately 70 man 
hours), significantly reducing major aircraft downtime compared to 
hardwired systems. Other advantages include comparative low cost and 
fast replacement of sensor heads or batteries (less than 10 minutes).
Pacific Scientific will provide the Halon bottles and Hollingsead will 
provide the System Integration.
