Securaplane has received a purchase order from Air Canada to replace its current battery charging system on its DC-9 fleet of aircraft On March 10, 1997, Securaplane received a purchase order from Air Canada for the new innovative BC-1300 Main Ship Battery Charging System utilizing advanced AC to DC technology, and comprehensive diagnostics with alphanumeric display. The BC-1300 features low weight, extensive diagnostics (of both battery and charger) and high reliability miniature (high frequency) charging modules. Securaplane is implementing SAFT=s optimum charging algorithm for the DC-9 Ni-Cad battery as well as for ULM applications. The BC-1300 battery charging system has a unique method of ensuring that the battery will receive the correct amount of charge for its energy state and temperature condition, thus increasing the life and reducing maintenance intervals. Benefits for replacing the existing unit will be enhanced battery life, significantly reduced battery maintenance as well as significant safety enhancements. Securaplane holds a Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) for the installation of both the BC-1300 main ship battery charger as well as the SAFT ULM batteries on DC-9 series aircraft. Other charger contracts include Northwest Airlines DC-9 fleet. Securaplane is a designer and manufacturer of emergency power and electrical systems as well as electronic aircraft security systems. Securaplane is based in Tucson, Arizona. For more information contact Securaplane at: 10800 N.
