For Immediate Release ------------------------------ Securaplane received a PMA for the XL246-A Emergency Battery System for the Canadair Challenger 601-3A and 601-3R aircraft On March 1, 1996, Securaplane received a Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) from the Federal Aviation Administration for the XL246-A Emergency Battery System for installation on the Canadair Challenger 601-3A and 601-3R aircraft. Securaplane's XL246-A is a direct replacement for the existing emergency battery system on the Challenger aircraft. Canadair has recently released an optional Service Bulletin providing for installation of the XL246-A. The XL246-A features Sealed Lead Acid "Dry Cell Batteries" that require no maintenance and have exceptional high and low temperature characteristics. Features include no deep cycling, no memory characteristics and enhanced shelf life compared to the Ni-Cad units they replace. Securaplane is in the process of obtaining a PMA for the XL246-A on Gulfstream III and Dassault Falcon 50 aircraft.
